Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen, Mexico sits about an hour south of Cancun, Mexico on the Yucatan peninsula…another 45 minutes or so north of Tulum…one of the worlds premiere vacation/party regions…you can throw a rock and hit 5 nightclubs, 10 bars, and 15 souvenir shops…it’s active all day and all night…we went with Playa over Cancun because I’m a little old for the college aged kids and family friendly resorts in Cancun…Playa is a little more mature but still lively…more my speed…we stayed at an Airbnb on a backstreet right by the ocean…I have to give my first nod of approval to Rocka’s Jamaican Kitchen (@rockasjam)…man the jerk chicken here is what I need in my life…it was authentic spicy jerk sauce that opens up your nasal passages…just like I like it…and they give you a healthy portion of food…we hit them up twice while we were there…and for drinks…Senor Frogs (https://senorfrogs.com/), Dick and Willy’s, Hooters…bars are littered throughout Playa…you will not go thirsty or sober…my favorite experience there was a day trip to Isla Mujeres…the vibe there felt right…small island feel that was less touristy…kinda hippie…kinda old…kinda up to date…we chilled at the Green Demon bar and lounge which has comfortable pillows and tents on the beach shore…the waiters will serve you while you bury your feet in the sand…take a nap…cuddle…whatever it is that you do…I’ll definitely be spending more time at Isla next time I go to the Yucatan…it was for grown folks…like myself…oh yeah, I almost forgot…got another tattoo…this time it was my inner forearm…Heru or as the Greek colonizers called him Horus…body stamp!
